HOURGLASS CARE
WELCOMES YOU
Honor Your Aging Parents Before Time Runs Out

About Hourglass Care
Hourglass Care is a ministry designed to help family members caring for, and about, aging parents with a focus on the biblical principles and scriptural commands of honor and respect. This ministry encompasses the needs and struggles of adult children, grandchildren, extended family members, and caregivers. Because the issues of aging parents touch the lives of all family members, various resources are available. These include children’s books; books targeting adult children facing various care needs, including the challenges of dementia; individual and family consultations; and group presentations to churches, colleges and universities, as well as other audiences interested in learning how to communicate with the elderly in a way that is respectful, kind, and reduces stress for all involved.
By focusing on the myriad issues of aging — such as dementia, dealing with difficult behaviors, restoration and forgiveness, estate planning, and end-of-life care — Hourglass Care seeks to help families and caregivers understand the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the elderly; the reasons for behaviors; and the biblical basis for the care we are commanded to provide.
Hourglass Care is so named because time is short. In the Bible, James wisely writes, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:14 ESV) Despite previous hurts, current conflicts, difficult behaviors, or dementia that makes parents seem unreachable, we are commanded to honor our aging parents today. Tomorrow may be too late.
Several years ago, Dr. Snider’s mother (who died of dementia in 2023) reflected on her own relationship with her mother who had dementia and said, “If I knew then what I know now, I would have been kinder to your [Dr. Snider’s] grandmother.” That day, Dr. Snider vowed that she would never speak those words. Her goal became to treat her mother with honor and respect TODAY and every day, so that she would never have to speak those words. Allow her to help you make the same biblical commitment.
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
See What Others Are Saying
Sherri Snider and I worked as colleagues for 16 years. During the nine years while I was a Global Eldercare Consultant, we worked together organizing training overseas. Because Sherri has spent her entire life in eldercare work, she was vital in helping determine content and resources to nationals. She easily adapted to cultural differences and connected with her learners. She was a careful listener and responded appropriately. She is engaging and clear and will greatly help those who come under her coaching.

Dr. Snider provided an interactive lesson to future practical nursing students regarding communication, mental health, and working with geriatrics. Through her knowledge and experience, students were able to identify ways to enhance communication to build rapport with patients and ways to gain compliance with resistant patients. The presentation was insightful, and all students were actively engaged throughout the presentation. We hope to have her back in the future to speak.
